Digital Desk, Maui. Based on a tip-off, the Mau police raided a house in Sahadatpura Colony under Kotwali Police Circle and took more than 50 people into custody for allegedly converting. The religious conversion program was being organized on Sunday in the name of prayers of the community for the cure of diseases.

Police sources here said that Pastor Abraham had been conducting prayer meetings at Vijendra Rajbhar’s house in Sahadatpura area for the last five years. He said neighbors were complaining about it as they believed illegal religious conversions were being carried out at the event, he said. Were were

Hindu Jagran Manch in-charge Bhanu Pratap Singh and other workers told the police that the people of Rajbhar’s house were involved in religious conversions after wooing people in the name of prayers. The complainants alleged that the followers of Christianity were also misleading innocent villagers and persuading them to convert.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Mishra said several people were questioned about the rituals and alleged conversions during the prayer meeting. He said that some of them were Christian missionaries while some others had joined all for the first time. He said that forced conversion has been organized in the program which is being investigated and action will be taken in this matter only.
