Mohammad Nabi appointed captain of Afghan team

Afghanistan has announced the new captain of their team. All-rounder Mohammad Nabi will captain the Afghanistan team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Afghanistan will start the tournament with a match against the winner of Group B in Sharjah on October 25. Bangladesh, Oman, Papua New Guinea or Scotland will take on the winner of the tournament’s first round.

Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021, registered a special record in the match against Mumbai Indians.

He holds the record for most catches by any fielder in an IPL match. Nabi took 5 catches against Mumbai.

He took the catches of Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, James Neesham, Krunal Pandya and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara has taken five catches in a match of IPL as a wicketkeeper. Playing for Deccan Chargers in IPL 2011, he took five catches in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Nabi proved to be very expensive as a bowler. He gave 33 runs in 3 overs.
