Pakistan captain Babar Azam has defended his decision to open the innings with Mohammad Rizwan in the T20 World Cup.
In an interview to ESPN Cricinfo, Babar praised Rizwan and said that he and Rizwan are the best options for the Pakistani top-order. Babar said, “I became world No. 1 as an opener, so I am comfortable there. So I give good performances and I have no problem in opening.”
Babar said, “The year is not over yet and Rizwan has scored the most runs in T20 Internationals this year. What more do you need now? There is no better combination than this. We want to give a good start so that whoever is after us.” It should be easy for the players to come.”
“That’s what we think and since we started opening together, we can understand each other’s game better,” he added.
Significantly, Babar Azam is confident that his team will do very well in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The ICC T20 World Cup will be played in UAE and Oman from October 17. Pakistan is in Group B which also includes India, New Zealand and Afghanistan.
