Bhopal Arts and Culture: Bhopal (Navdunia Reporter). In view of the Kovid-19 epidemic, various academies of Madhya Pradesh Government, Culture Department are broadcasting the online series Gamak on the activities of multiple arts disciplines on the Internet media platform. As part of the series, on Wednesday evening, Basant Sharma of Indore on behalf of Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet and Kala Akademi performed Sarod playing and Kathak by Devika Devendra S Mangalamukhi of Jaipur and colleagues. Which was broadcast live on the department’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The presentation started with sarod playing by Basant Sharma and colleagues. He performed three bandishans after the alap in Raga Yaman. Presented in first bandish Dhamar Taal, second Madhyalay Teen Taal and Druta Teen Taal, Jhale. He was accompanied by Vitthal Rajpura on Pakhavaj on stage, Yashpal Bawre on Tabla. The second presentation was given by Devika Devendra, S Mangalamukhi and colleagues on Kathak. The artists started with Rask-e-Mughaliya. This was followed by the performance of Amir Khusro’s Yare Man Biya Biya…, and Teen Taal, Thaat, Uthaan, Aamad, Paran. In the next sequence, the upaj ghazal mere dil ko daag lega gaye…, and ended the presentation with a hustle and bustle in the tarana. The art enthusiasts thoroughly enjoyed both the performances. It is noteworthy that Kathak is a famous dance of North India, in which the inclusion of Mughal culture is also seen. This Indian dance is very popular even today with slight changes in different parts of the country.
