Earlier on September 18, the ATS had filed a charge sheet against six accused including Umar Gautam, Jehangir Alam, Rahul Bhola, Mannu Yadav in the case.

The ATS said in the chargesheet on Wednesday that the accused were operating the gang for illegal conversions. The financially weak and handicapped, especially the deaf and dumb, were being seduced and forcibly converted by this gang. For this, apart from the Islamic Dawah Center, the Deaf Society was made a center and a trap was laid for conversion all over India.

Not only this, the associates of the accused sitting abroad arranged huge money through hawala and other means. On the other hand, the gang used to organize workshops along with training so that the converts did not go back to the original religion. This has increased the enmity and bitterness between different religions.

According to the chargesheet, it was found in the investigation that Umar Gautam and Jahangir Alam had formed a syndicate with the national and international associates of their gang. Its purpose was to create animosity among the converting people towards their original religion. Due to which the fraternity which enhances the integrity and unity of the country has been adversely affected.

Bhupriya Bindo, Kausar Alam, Faraj Shah and Prasad Kavre, accused of operating Umar Gautam’s syndicate in Maharashtra, have the lead roles. It was said in the chargesheet that crores of rupees have been funded through Maulana Kalim Siddiqui’s Jamia Imam Waliullah Trust and Hawala from abroad for the conversion of the accused. The accused could not give any details about this money during interrogation.
