Jammu. In the last six months, 27 employees have been sacked in Jammu and Kashmir on charges of nexus with terrorists and anti-national activities. Before the sacking of Anees-ul-Islam, grandson of pro-Pakistan radical separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the government has also sacked two sons of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and tainted DSP Davinder Singh, arrested along with Hizbul terrorist. The Lt Governor has taken action under Article 311(2) of the Constitution. Under this, the dismissed employee can appeal only to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. The government had started the process of sacking employees in April. For this, the government had constituted the STF, which investigates the cases of employees involved in anti-national activities and recommends their dismissal.
According to the dossier prepared against Anees, Anees, son of Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Altaf Fantoush, is accused of having close contacts with three suspects in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. Funtoosh, arrested in the terror funding case, is in Tihar Jail since 2017. Anees was appointed as Research Officer at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center in 2016 under the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. According to officials, Anees had gone to Pakistan from July 31 to August 7, 2016 before the appointment. There he met Colonel Yasir of ISI. After returning from there, when violence erupted across the state over the killing of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani in an encounter, the state government was pressurized to appoint him. For this the recruitment rules were twisted. It is alleged that before the appointment, Anees along with his friends used to fly drones breaking the rules in Srinagar and surrounding areas. The footage was later shared with ISI handlers across the border.
SKICC is sensitive due to high level meetings-seminars
Officials say that Anees was appointed to a government post equivalent to a gazetted post as part of a bargain to quell the violence that erupted after the killing of Burhan Wani. Because there was no emergency requirement to fill this post lying vacant since 2005. High level meetings and VVIP conferences are held in SKICC. It is also highly sensitive to the topics raised in seminars, workshops and meetings.
