Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP’s chief whip in the Odisha Assembly, narrowly escaped a bomb blast on Sunday. Police said two unidentified assailants had hurled a bomb at his car in Keonjhar district. Majhi and his security officials were not injured in the bomb attack but their car suffered some damage.

A senior police officer said that the attack took place near Mandua area under Keonjhar Town police station limits when Majhi was attending a meeting of the labor union. Majhi has lodged an FIR in this regard that two motorcycle-borne miscreants hurled two bombs at his car.

Majhi and his security forces chased both of them but both failed to escape, the official said. Majhi, the tribal MLA from Keonjhar district, said that I was returning after attending a meeting when two men on a motorcycle hurled two bombs at my car. The incident happened around 11.50 am.

He said that I may have made political enmity in my 20 years of political life, but in personal life I have no enmity with anyone. He blamed the attack on the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD). He said that the local leaders of BJD are behind the plot of this attack on me.
