The seventh edition of the T20 World Cup will be played in the UAE and Oman from 17 October 2021 to 14 November 2021. The main matches will be played from October 23. This year 12 teams will play in the main event. All the teams are divided into two groups. Group 1 consists of Australia, defending world champion West Indies, South Africa and ODI world champion team England and two qualifier teams. At the same time, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and two qualifier teams will be in Group 2.
The qualifier matches will be played from October 17 to 22. This will be followed by the start of the Super-12 round on 23 October. The semi-finals will be played on November 10 and 11 and the final in Dubai on November 14. The ICC has fixed two time slots for this. The first match on the double header day will be played at 3:30 pm and the second at 7:30 pm. The match will start at 7:30 pm on the day of a match.
The matches in the World Cup will be as follows-
- Qualifying matches will be played in the preliminary round.
- In this, matches will be played between 8 teams. Two groups of four teams each have been formed.
- Top 2 teams from both the groups will qualify for the Super-12 stage.
- In Super-12, two groups of six each have been made. A team will play five matches.
- The Super-12 groups have been decided on the basis of the ranking of 20 March 2021.
- After the Super-12 round, the top-2 teams from both the groups will advance to the semi-finals.
- After the semi-final, the final match will be played between the two teams.
