New Delhi. India was re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for a sixth term with an overwhelming majority. India was on Thursday re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2022-24 and resolved to continue working for the promotion and protection of human rights through “respect, dialogue and cooperation”. The Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations gave this information by tweeting.
He wrote, “India was re-elected to the UNHRC for the sixth time with an overwhelming majority. Heartfelt gratitude to the members of the United Nations for reposing their faith in India.” He said in another tweet, “We will continue to work for the promotion and protection of human rights through respect, dialogue, cooperation.” The United Nations General Assembly selected Argentina, Benin, Cameroon, Eritrea, Finland, Zambia, Honduras, India, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Montenegro, Paraguay, Qatar, Somalia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States by secret ballot.
