Dubai: Former Pakistan all-rounder and bowling coach Azhar Mahmood feels India have an edge when it comes to their match against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup as their players have played in the IPL, which is held in the UAE. The match between India and Pakistan is to be held on October 24. Mahmood says that India also has a good understanding of the environment.

‘If you look at the reality, then the Indian team has the advantage’

Mahmood wrote for PakPaisan, “India and Pakistan have always been important given the pressure in comparison. But looking at the reality, India has a slight advantage as their players played IPL which was played in UAE. Apart from playing highly competitive cricket, he will also have a good understanding of the playing conditions in the UAE. However, Mahmood said that Pakistan’s cricketers have played good cricket in the recently concluded National T20 Cup, which has helped them prepare better for the T20 World Cup.

‘The team that overcomes the pressure wins the match’

He said, ‘We should not forget that Pakistani players have participated in the National T20 Cup. We all know that India vs Pakistan match is won by the team which can handle the pressure. In T20 format, a match changes in one over. Pakistan has had a disappointing record against India in ICC tournaments. Pakistan has won only three out of 17 matches and they have got all three victories in the Champions Trophy. Pakistan last defeated India in the final of the Champions Trophy in 2017.
