Katihar: A woman was hacked to death with an ax in broad daylight in Katihar. The woman’s neighbor put her to death, accusing her of being a witch. There has been a stir in the area after the incident. From children to elderly people are in panic.

According to the information, the matter is of Palsa village of Azamnagar police station area. Dudhiya Devi, a resident of Mushari Tola here, was murdered on the suspicion of a witch Bisahi. The woman’s husband Raju Rishi told that his wife was taking out Makhana in the field. At the same time, his neighbor Bechan Rishi attacked Dudhiya Devi with an ax. According to Raju Rishi, many times before the murder, accused Bechan Rishi had been quarreling with his wife by accusing him of witch Bisahi.

On the other hand, the villagers informed the police about the murder, after which the police reached the spot, took possession of the blood-soaked body and sent it to Katihar for post-mortem. Taking further action, the police is investigating the matter. Simultaneously, the police is conducting raids in search of the absconding killer Bechan Rishi, including the ax used in the murder.

SDPO Premnath Ram of Barsoi subdivision also reached the spot on information. Giving information, the SDPO said that the villagers had given information regarding the matter, after which the police is engaged in the investigation.
