New Delhi: Now only 4 days are left for the start of T20 World Cup. All the countries have announced their team for this mega tournament. But still any team can make some changes in its players. However, in the meantime, the defending champions West Indies have decided to keep a big match winner out of their team.
Virat’s enemy out of T20 World Cup
West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has said that spinner Sunil Narine will not be included in the Caribbean squad for the T20 World Cup despite Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) doing well in the Indian Premier League (IPL). 33-year-old Narayan showed great batting in addition to taking four wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. He has taken 11 wickets in eight matches in the UAE leg, but has not played an international since August 2019, leaving defending champions West Indies out of the squad for the World Cup. The ICC deadline to make changes in the team ends on Friday.
RCB was shown the way out
Let us tell you that Sunil Narine is the same player who took the maximum 4 wickets in the Eliminator match against RCB while playing for KKR. These wickets themselves belonged to batsmen like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell and KS Bharat. Not only this, after this Narayan pulled the match from the hands of RCB by hitting three consecutive sixes in the same over. He became a big enemy for Virat Kohli because this was Virat Kohli’s last IPL while captaining for RCB and he lost it to Narayan.
There will be no changes in West Indies team
Pollard told ESPNcricinfo, ‘If I talk about the reasons for not including him in the team, then it can be presented in a twisted manner.’ He said, ‘It is better if we focus on those 15 players, which we have now. This is more important to us. We have to work on whether we can defend our title with these players.
Pollard said, ‘I do not want to comment on this. Much has been said on this. I think the reasons for not including him in the team were told only then. Personally, I consider Sunil Narine a better friend than an international cricketer. We grew up playing together. He is a world class cricketer. Pollard, however, wants Andre Russell in his team, who has not played any IPL match since 26 September due to injury.
