New Delhi: T20 World Cup 2021 is starting from tomorrow in UAE and Oman. After the end of this tournament, big changes are certain in Team India. While captain Virat Kohli will step down as the captain of the T20 team, this will also be the last tournament for coach Ravi Shastri. After this Team India will get a new coach. For a long time, it was being emphasized who would become the next coach of India after Shastri, but now the BCCI has made it clear.

Rahul Dravid will be the new coach

After the T20 World Cup 2021, Rahul Dravid will be the next head coach of Team India. The BCCI has appointed Dravid as the coach of India till the 2023 World Cup. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah had a lengthy meeting with Dravid and convinced him to be the coach of the Indian team after the T20 World Cup.

Talking to ANI, a BCCI source said, “Dravid has agreed and nothing can be better than this. Other positions will now be considered while Vikram Rathour will continue as batting coach. The Indian team is in a great position with the arrival of young players and all of them have worked with Dravid. Now it will be easier for Indian cricket to follow the path of becoming world champion.

Was also made coach on Sri Lankan tour

Dravid was always the preferred choice for the BCCI, but secretary Jay Shah and president Sourav Ganguly sat down and spoke with the former captain. Before that he also went on the Sri Lankan tour with the team as a coach. The source further said, ‘Jai and Sourav spoke to him. Things have gone well now and Dravid has always put the interest of Indian cricket on top. So it made things easier because it would be good for the team to have someone like him guide the boys.

Shastri’s contract will end after the World Cup

Ravi Shastri will step down as the coach of Team India after this year’s T20 World Cup. Shastri became the coach of Team India for the first time in 2017. After that the team showed amazing game in Australia and many big countries of the world. But even during Shastri’s tenure, India could not win a single ICC trophy, due to which he and Kohli were constantly targeted. Shastri had decided that he would not allow his contract to be extended after the World Cup.
