First Indian to become chairman of global industry body
According to a statement issued by JSW Steel, Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of India-based JSW Steel has been appointed as the Chairman of the World Steel Association. He is the first Indian to be elected as the chairman of the Belgium-based global industry body.

It’s a privilege to be appointed to this position
Jindal was quoted as saying in the statement, “It is a privilege to serve as the Chairman of the World Steel Association. The next few years look interesting for the global steel industry.” He said governments and policymakers have realized that they need to increase their spending on infrastructure to rebuild their economies.
