The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been in the news for some time due to controversies. After the cancellation of the tour of New Zealand and England to Pakistan, now once again the shadow of fixing is hovering on this board. Pakistan Under-19 player and first-class batsman Zeeshan Malik was provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday. He was accused of not following the ICC Code of Conduct.

According to reports, Zeeshan is trapped in the allegations of fixing. Zeeshan himself did not do the fixing but he did not tell the board despite knowing about it. This fixing happened during the recently concluded National T20 Championship. The PCB has alleged that Zeeshan did not inform the board about the offer of ‘spot-fixing’. Cannot take part in any cricket related activity till date.

Investigation is going on against Zeeshan

A PCB source confirmed that the Anti-Corruption Unit is probing the incident of Malik being offered a ‘spot-fix’ during championship matches as it was not immediately reported to the authorities concerned. Zeeshan has been completely suspended till the investigation is done. The National T20 Championship concluded in Lahore on Wednesday. Zeeshan played five matches for Northern Zone in the National T20 Cup. During this he scored 123 runs at an average of 24.60. His team was knocked out of the semi-finals.

Had a blast in the Under 19 World Cup

Malik first came into the limelight when he performed brilliantly in the Under-19 Cup in the year 2016. In that tournament, he scored 225 runs at an average of 56.25. This player, who hails from Rawalpindi, made his first class debut in the year 2016. Since then till now he has played in five seasons. He scored 780 runs for Northern in the 2019-20 season. During this his average was 52. He has also played 17 matches in List A in which he has scored 629 runs at an average of 37.00. At the same time, in 21 domestic T20 matches, he has scored 586 runs with the bat at an average of 27.90.
