Indian cricket team will play its first practice match in T20 tomorrow.
The T20 World Cup-2021 has started from Sunday. Right now the first round matches are being played while the main teams are busy playing practice matches. The Indian cricket team, captained by Virat Kohli, will also play its first practice match on Monday. The England team will be in front of him. But before this match, India has a lot of problems which it will insist on solving. In the practice match, Indian captain Virat Kohli will be eyeing all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s rhythm and correcting the batting order. After England on Monday, the Indian team has to play a warm-up match against Australia on Wednesday.
All the players of the team were part of the recently concluded IPL-2021. In such a situation, match practice is not a problem for Kohli’s players but before their opening match in the tournament against Pakistan on October 24, they will try to make the right combination. Against England and Australia, the Indian team management would like to give chances to those players whose place is not confirmed in the playing XI. Efforts will be made to give more chances to such players to bat or bowl so that they can get a better idea about their current form.
Controversy over opening pair
While vice-captain Rohit Sharma’s place as the opener is confirmed, it will be a tough choice to choose between Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul as his partner. In these practice matches, both of them can get a chance to open the innings so that it can be seen who is in better rhythm. However, Rahul will be a big contender for this as he has the experience of playing pressure matches. He has scored 626 runs (including 30 sixes) in the 14th season of IPL at a strike rate of 138.80. Kishan also hinted at getting back into the limelight by scoring consecutive fifties in the last two matches of Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He opened the innings in both these matches. If Rahul opens the innings, Kishan will give a tough fight to Hardik at the sixth position in the middle order. However, both Hardik and Kishan’s performance in the UAE leg of the IPL has been disappointing.
Hardik’s bowling a matter of concern
Hardik’s bowling will also be a big issue. There is little chance that he will bowl. In such a situation, it will also be interesting to see whether wicketkeeper will bat before Rishabh Pant or later if he is part of the team. Ravindra Jadeja’s place in the team is confirmed in the spin bowling department. If Varun Chakraborty remains fit, then his place in the team is also almost certain. For the third spinner, there will be a match between leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to be in command of the fast bowling, but if the team decides to go with two spinners, then Shardul Thakur can get a place in the team.
England expects from them
England will expect Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow to bat aggressively with Jos Buttler. Some batsmen like Liam Livingstone and David Malan can struggle here if we measure the performance of IPL. Captain Eoin Morgan has been brilliant for Kolkata Knight Riders as captain but he could not do much with the bat in the tournament.
