Speaking to InsideSport, Madan Lal said that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni can give the team an extra edge during the tournament. When asked about his thoughts on bringing in Dhoni as a mentor, the former pacer revealed that the Chennai Super Kings captain accepted the role because of his love for the country. He said, “The return of MS Dhoni as a mentor is a great thing. He has done this for the country and only a few players do it. You know today’s players rarely talk without money. So I salute Dhoni’s efforts. His move is brilliant and BCCI has given him that opportunity.

Madan Lal further said, ‘In international cricket, the mentor keeps looking at the small things. If he sees anything, the game may change. This is the biggest advantage as MS Dhoni has a lot of experience and has pulled the team out of such situations many times. Sometimes when we are playing, we do not know some things. However, when an experienced player like Dhoni tells something, it makes a big difference to the team and the players feel more confident as soon as they step on the field.
