Mau: In Uttar Pradesh’s Mau, police raided a house in Sahadatpura Colony and took more than 50 people into custody for allegedly converting. A religious conversion program was organized on Sunday in the name of prayer for the cure of diseases.

According to police sources, Pastor Abraham was conducting prayer meetings at Vijendra Rajbhar’s house in Sahadatpura area for the last five years. The police officer said the neighbors were complaining about it as they believed that illegal conversion was being done at the event.

Accused misguiding people for conversion

Bhanu Pratap Singh, in-charge of Hindu Jagran Manch, told the police that the people of Vijendra Rajbhar’s house are involved in converting religion after luring people in the name of prayer. It is alleged that the followers of Christianity were also misleading other villagers and persuading them to convert.

Police officer Dhananjay Mishra said that the question of conversion was raised during the prayer meeting. Some of those taken into custody are Christian missionaries, while others had gone to that meeting for the first time.

He further said that forcible conversion is done in the program, its investigation is going on. Action will be taken if found guilty.
